Upshur County fire revised to 24 acres, fire crews remain on scene

UPSHUR COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

Fire crews have contained a brush fire in Upshur County on Thursday afternoon. The fire spread quickly, but only affected 24 acres.

According to the Gilmer Fire Department, New Mountain, Ewell and Bettie Volunteer Fire Departments worked to contain the 24-acre blaze off of Farm to Market 1975, about eight miles northwest of Ore City near the communities of Ewell and Cox. The fire was contained just north of Lafayette.

The Forest Service remains on scene. The Ewell and Bettie Volunteer Fire Departments have been called off.
